You will be able to find in these places the most varied types of souvenir shops, restaurants, night-clubs, bars, hotels and apartments. There is also a first-class casino located close to the beach. At a distance of 2 km from the city of Portimao, set on the estuary of the Arade River, the fishing port of Portimao is blessed with a relaxed Mediterranean atmosphere and a rich selection of fish and seafood restaurants. A short drive west lies the picturesque village of Alvor, where the discovery of a Neolithic settlement with the remains of a subsequent Roman occupation is evidence of the town's historic past. 15Km from Portimao is the historical city of Silves, and 24Km the mountains of Monchique and Caldas de Monchique with their famous rejuvenating water, 20 km lies the City of Lagos.

Transportation

From Faro Airport:Exit the airport on the A22 highway or E.N. 125, follow the signs to Portimao. Once you arrive in Portimao, follow the signs to Praia da Rocha (V6). Go straight across the first roundabout (Continente Supermarket on your left, McDonalds on your right), turn right on next roundabout. You will then have arrived at Mar a Vista. Transportation to and from Faro Airport available upon payment of a certain fee.
